An avid fan of video games, Cheryl Yew not only plays them but also writes reviews about them. While she started writing about single-player games, Cheryl has gone on to write about multiplayer games such as Overwatch and Apex Legends.
What is your defining moment as a gamechanger?
There were times where I had to fight really hard for a game I wanted to write about. I had to prove my worth. It may sound like a small thing, but it makes you more motivated to play and write well when you get a game you've been following since its first release. It's not a pleasant feeling when you don't get to do so.
What did you have to fight against to become a gamechanger?
It was when I got stuck while writing my first few articles. I've always thought my command of English was pretty good, but I got constructive criticism, and it was due to either grammatical or vocabulary issues. It was not as though I did not have the knowledge, it just happens when you first start to do something, and it was a make or break for me.
What will be your advice to others?
It’s okay to be bad at something on your first try, don’t give up and try again. Take a break if you need to, but if you love something, keep going, and one day your efforts will reap the rewards. Always try to learn more because someone else would know something more than you do.
